Cette gouache sur papier exécutée en Algérie représente une habitation blanche en terrasse sur les hauteurs sauvages de Kouba. Très colorées, deux femmes sont assises, l'une au milieu de la cour ocre, l'autre au pied de la maison avec un bac à linge devant elle. Déjà, des tissus sèchent étendus sur tout ce qui permet de l'être tout autour de la maison. Derrière, dans la campagne algérienne, un homme travaille la terre avec l'aide d'un âne ou d'un cheval.
